Sims 3: CC Backup Post 01

I made these for TS2, and I figured I’d go ahead and make them for TS3 while I was at it. These were originally floors from Cottage Living, but I made them into terrains. There is a terrain version of this in TS4 but it only comes in 1 color (pink), and does not match the floors (Why EA?). No transparency version only. I didn’t test this in game, so let me know if I’ve goofed something up.

I made this as a quick edit of the Beach Towel + Umbrella for myself, as I couldn’t find one that felt “medieval themed”. Please keep in mind I didn’t make this with the intent to share originally so it’s a bit “rough”. I almost forgot I made this, so I wanted to drop it here for the future. I am not currently playing my medieval save, so the above preview is just the texture. Feel free to edit, etc.

GraphicsRules made in 1.69 - For TS3

I wanted to save my GraphicsRules for my future Sims 3 playthroughs, and I thought I’d share.

🚨 MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR GRAPHICSRULES BEFORE USING THIS!! I can’t stress this enough.
This is for version 1.69!
*Edit* I am now on 1.67 and this seems to work fine.

Found in: Program Files\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
or
Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
I don’t remember which is the default as I have mine in a custom location.
Installation for non-origin users:
Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin

Changes from the default are as follows:

  • Graphics when set to the Very High setting will either be 2K, or 4K, depending on which version you download. I recommend 2K for gameplay.
  • Better Shadows included. It uses 4K shadows in both versions. You must set your shadows to the High setting.
  • I have the seti textureMemory (how much RAM your computer has) set to 16GB of RAM. 🚨 I highly recommend changing this to how much YOUR computer has. I have never tested this on a computer that has less RAM than 16GB.
  • ShaderSkinCompositing set to false on the High, and Very High graphics setting. This fixes improperly rendered body hair and tattoos (stops them from becoming blurry).
  • Bloom is removed. Example of what Bloom is here.

Find more bug fixes, and performance tweaks in this guide! (I have included some of the changes to my GraphicsRules)

Medieval Fantasy Names for TS3 - Default Name Replacement

I wasn’t able to find any name replacement mods that I wanted to use for my medieval save, so I made one! Let me just say this took way longer then I initially thought it would.

The names I chose are mainly medieval-ish (I used a lot of names from old, and middle English). I also used some sim names (or made names out of sim places), e.g. Dragon Valley, Henford on Bagley, etc. There’s a small fantasy element thrown in there as well. I tried to stick to ~sim lore~.

I’ve tried it out in my game, and it seems to be working fine, but there’s over 8,000 different strings (name possibilities, basically). I did duplicate most of the names to a degree. It should work with other languages, but I only played / tested in English.

I’m still messing around with it, but I need a break. So I thought I’d share this version.

Credits to lesbisim for the base mod (I changed all names).

I used Easy STBL Manager, Notepad++, and a ton of google.

And in case anyone else wants to change the names, line 3-1012 = Female, 1013-7266 = Surnames, 7267-8303 = Male. This is assuming you use the above programs to edit these.

Upscaled pet fur & details for TS3 - Not a final mod!

**EXPERIMENTAL**

This is not a final mod.

Pictures on left are EA resolution, pictures on the right are upscaled. Top pictures are EA. Bottom is upscaled.

I want to share my upscaled pet fur & details (ears, mouth etc) in case anyone else might be interested in messing with it. Due to the websites limitations that I used, these are only 2K.

These are not edited in any way aside from upscaling and then slapping them into a package. There is some wonkiness (see the paws on the dog, ears are lighter, especially on cats). These are meant to be more of a resource for other cc makers, rather then a full fledged mod.

These textures come from lazyduchessdefault textures.

The pet eyes are from hiddengnomesDayDreaming defaults.

Default Beetle Eyes for Cats and Dogs - For TS3

Default Beetle Eyes for Cats and Dogs! These use lazyduchess‘ default whiskers.

These are 4k.

Bug disclosure: I noticed some weird discoloration above the pupil at times, and I wasn’t able to fix it. I have also noticed LazyDuchess’ default pet texture seems to conflict with the catchlights.

Credits: lazyduchess, horusmenhosetix, & squea.
thisiskitta, & annyon for the premade pets. [1] [2]

Try this if you use lazyduchess’ default pet textures (you still need to download the eyes + this file): Download ❗ This is meant to replace the default textures, so delete lazyduchess’ version. Note this is only for these specific eye defaults. You will need to remove this file if you stop using these eye defaults!

DayDreaming Eyes + Whiskers Defaults for TS3

I love lazyduchess‘ pet whiskers, and hiddengnomes‘ daydreaming defaults. This is my admittedly quick attempt to make them compatible. I also copied the cat defaults over to the dog eyes, so this is both for cats and dogs!

Eyes are 4k like the original.

Bug disclosure: I noticed some weird discoloration (example is different eyes, but it’s the same discoloration) above the pupil at times, and I wasn’t able to fix it.

I have also noticed LazyDuchess’ default pet texture seems to conflict with the catchlights.

*Edit* Try this if you use lazyduchess’ default pet textures (you still need to download both the eyes + this file):

Sims 3 Object Hiders (ALL)

I have updated and added some new object hiders for The Sims 3.

Built, or (for my older packages) work with 1.69.

I’ve learned a new way of making these. I did not redo all of my packages as they still seem to work fine, and there are a TON. The new way also solved some of my previous issues, like build objects not being hidden anymore.

I tried to get most objects/build mode items, but there might still be a few stragglers. Feel free to report any you find in my ask. Some I intentionally stayed away from as they are the only one in the game that exists, and I might actually use. This isn’t consistent across all games as far as not hiding these “one in existence” items, as some I never intend to use any time soon, and I did hide. So just keep an eye out. They should still be in the Collections folders if you do miss any. Feel free to request a hider for any of these items. I don’t mind adding them in if someone else wants them hidden.

Read before downloading:

These will hide objects from showing in the buy/build/buy debug catalog. You can still find them in Collections. These do not remove any objects from in game, and will still show up as normal if they’ve already been placed in game, or if they come with a lot, etc.

I strongly suggest choosing wisely when it comes to what you want to hide, as hiding everything can be problematic. An example would be all Beds being hidden from the catalog.

These come with their thumbnail pictures where available to make it easier to pick and choose what to keep.

I would put these in your overrides folder, but they should still work if you don’t.

dreadpirate‘s crystalline eyes v2 pet separates

I made dreadpirate‘s crystalline eyes v2 into pet separates!

All credit goes to dreadpirate, & magical-girl-sandbox. All I did was copy + paste. I suggest checking out this post for more info on pet separates!

IaKoa's Servo Default in Default Grey

I really like deedee-sims’ plumbot clothes, but I have yet to mess around with making default meshes myself. I instead decided to take IaKoa’s Servo Default, and use deedee-sims default grey textures.

When using this, I also strongly recommend you get this mod, otherwise servos will still have a glowing ball.

Fetching & Purrrrfect Eyes for TS2

Many moons ago, livejournal was all the rage. Simblr wasn’t much of a thing yet. It was back then that I converted traelia‘s TS3 pet eyes [1] [2] to TS2, then eventually deleted my blog. poppet-sims‘ was kind enough to repost to make them easier to find.

I recently found out about magical-girl-sandbox‘s separate pet eyes. After I converted nolan-sims daydreamin eyes, I decided to do these too!

  • I have changed nothing about these from the original. I tried my best to put them under what I think was my intended colors.
  • What I have changed is these now work as separates thanks to magical-girl-sandbox.
  • These have simnopke‘s fix included.
  • Check out mistysensation‘s post for more info, including how to change existing pets eyes.

DayDreamin Pet Eyes for TS2

Thanks to mistysensation‘s post (which also has good info on how to use these properly, especially if you already have existing pets), I realized you can now have separate eyes thanks to the amazing work by magical-girl-sandbox! I’ve been wanting to convert nolan-sims daydreamin eyes for a while, and I took this as an opportunity to do just that. Unfortunately TS2′s tiny eye size destroys the quality. :(

  • These are nolan-sims original colors, aside from purple, and red. I did edit the pupil for the dog eyes.
  • I used the sclera from mistysensation’s post.
  • These have simnopke‘s fix included.

simulationcowboy‘s Dog Days eyes defaulted for Sims 2

I love simulationcowboy‘s Dog Days eyes, so I decided to convert them to TS2 as defaults. A few have different color options, so please only choose one. I did multiple supernatural defaults, however I haven’t confirmed those work correctly in game. Alien and vampire should be fine as I used an old eye set of mine for those. I’m not sure about the others, so those should be considered “testing”. Download at your own risk!

All colors are from simulationcowboy’s TS4 version.
Sclera credit goes to mswn for their Sclera v3.0.
